Kathmandu — A total of 36 teams of young innovators from Nepal and India participated in the AI Hackathon 2026 held in Kathmandu. The event focused on turning ideas into practical solutions using artificial intelligence (AI).
Participants presented projects on important areas such as secure digital identity, fraud detection, energy, healthcare, fintech, and public services. The hackathon showed how new technology can help solve real-life problems.
The program was inaugurated by Mike Harker from the U.S. Embassy. He highlighted the role of the United States in supporting new technology and helping young entrepreneurs grow their ideas.
The event was organized in partnership with AmCham Nepal. Through this collaboration, Nepali startups, students, and professionals are getting opportunities to connect with American companies, investors, and mentors.

At the closing, Frank Sellin said that innovation grows through partnerships. He also mentioned that Nepalâs digital sector is developing and has strong potential to be part of the global AI movement.
The hackathon ended successfully, encouraging collaboration and innovation among young talents.
